Lab Membership: Evaluation Week

By Allie LaCombe 04/24/2019, 7:45pm CDT

Lab Membership Class names being changed to skill based, not age

Attention: LAB MEMBERS!

We are going to be doing Evaluations this week for our Membership

We will be changing the names of our classes to be skill based. Evaluation week is for us to unbiasedly decide upon the placement of each skater and goalie who are members of the Lab. New class names will be Skill and Age Based but mostly skill based.

Sign - In’s & Evals

Tuesday - Sunday this week (4/23-28) our coaches will be taking notes and evaluating membership classes both during normal classes and 3v3/Spring Conditioning. Your child (or yourself) will be required to sign in with the coach before going on the ice. We will have a sign in sheet, they will just write their name in before class. You will still sign in at the front desk but again before going onto the ice.

Come to class on the usual day and time you come! It will give us the best scope of our members. We will also do evals during Spring Conditioning.

New Classes

The names of classes will be changing. Instead of Beginner, Mite, Squirt, Peewee, Bantam and Midget, we will have:

Fundamentals
Rookie
Intermediate
Advanced
Elite

These classes will have age limits and restrictions based upon the evaluations of the coaching staff. IF you have any questions or concerns about your child’s placement, you can contact Coach Allie, Coach Pat, or Coach Goose and we would be happy to discuss classes with you and your child.

We will not allow more than 3 years gap to move up in classes  (I.E. No Squirts will be in the Elite Classes)… they will still be generally on Age (Fundamentals = Mite - 1st yr. Squirt… Rookie - Mites Intermediate - Adv. Mite & Squirt, Advanced - Squirt/Peewee/1st yr. Bantam, Elite - Bantam/Midget/AAA/AA Peewee)

We are doing this so that our classes are structured by skill level so our coaches and our kids will get the most out of each class. They will be paired with the group that fits them the best and will be pushed in the ways they need to in order to develop properly.

Re-cap

This is an exciting step and I know many of you have talked to us about it already but just be prepared to have coaches in the benches during classes throughout the week, please do not talk to them and disturb their evaluation process. We have coaches evaluating during class and on the bench.

We ask that this week, no parents on the benches during classes if coaches are there, only during water breaks to assist your child if you need to.

Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to continue making the Lab the best hockey training facility in the Southeast!

Sincerely,

Your Lab Coaches
